Joi Fisher Griffin, Adoptee, adoption Advocate, Author, and Educator (Plainfield, NJ)

Super Easy Ways To Learn Everything About ADOPTION

Adoption can be a very tricky subject, especially for black, brown, and low to moderate-income families. It could be that the mindset of the individuals mentioned here wonder how extra mouths in a house when there are limited means is feasible. Another idea is the embarrassment associated with what family is supposed to be and when abandonment enters the room.

This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 65 will help Urban Academics Roundtable members to think of ways to support vulnerable children and families who look to adoption and foster care as a resource.

“Adoption and foster care is a traumatic experience. It’s a loss of a birth parent. Talking about Trauma is important because it has had an impact. What happens after the Trauma, and we have no idea what the parent was going through. Before classifying children and youth as “bad,” let’s learn to explore their individual stories.”

Three Things You Should Do

What’s More?

When Lady Joi is not cape-wearing with an “S” on her chest making brave attempts at saving the world, she goes into “parent” mode. It seems taking care of everyone else is a permanent part of her DNA. Her goal is to try and pay more attention to herself both mentally and physically. As a woman of faith, she believes in overcoming anything through honesty and doing the work. Owning up to things that need change is the first step. Taking life seriously and speaking her truth during counseling sessions is her go-to, and she recommends it (counseling) to others.

Death, LIFE INSURANCE, And Taxes

Death, LIFE INSURANCE, And Taxes are each something all of us over the age of 21 give thought to, it’s not as important to the next generation. Youth are more apt to take their chances on LIVING LONG and hopefully using life insurance, i.e. inheritance can help to shield the future. This is probably the first time for black brown and low-income earning families.

This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 64 will help Urban Academics Roundtable members to think of three extremely important things around facts. Each of us will pass away (die) at some point, and when that time comes it’s too late to get our business and final expenses in order. Insurance certainly helps, but understanding the different options associated with what some consider a morbid conversation is not always easy.

The science behind A Perfect PRISON TO PRINCETON MIRACLE

Young thugs are everywhere! Look around wherever you are and agree we black, brown, and poor folks have a long way to go. Seriously, we’ve fought for everything and each other. This generation of pant-sagging migrants, in my opinion, don’t have a clue what it is/was to be a “G.” Television shows don’t come close to the reality facing young people two and three generations ago. However, one thing will never change – The power of GOD and his ability to move each one into their purpose.

This thought is not about racism, but rather about whether life was experienced as straight and narrow (headed to heaven), or the extreme opposite, a sinful wretch is undone. You went to church and served GOD (doing good), or wholeheartedly serving evil 365-7 days weekly would put my money on a ’70-’80s Daddy’s Girl! We’ve but because of this week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 63.

Mirma Johnson-Majors. Ph.D. is HOT-Seat Chosen Visionary 62, Adjunct Professor at Chopin State University, from Baltimore, MD

Who is Chosen VIsionary in HOT-Seat 63

Rev. William H Buie quotes the great Langston Hughes, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair!” Growing up in the mean streets of Brooklyn, New York, in the Bedford Stuyvesant community provided a level of education not offered within the American educational system. The street life grabbed his attention at an early age, and he quickly fell for worldly happiness. Seeing the bling belonging to men of every nationality with the finer things of life, I began my pursuit of those things as an escape from poverty.

He found himself engaged in seeking attention from sources outside of what we consider the nuclear family. His first encounter with the underground world began with a simple engagement in smoking marijuana/weed at ten years old, which started the downward spiral. Life started as a love affair, only to end up like gang rape. Not realizing the end could only lead to jails, institutions, possibly death.

About Science

Science is about facts with proven evidence over time. With that said, I’ve never seen the word science mentioned in the bible; Because it was not discovered yet (the term)? However, what is clear is the countless scriptures around knowledge and wisdom – Mostly building on top of the other. William Buie, a chosen vessel used by GOD, can use – He’s been through the mire, much, and Mudd yet somehow came out victorious and unscathed.

If you take anything away from this segment (and post) at the Urban Academics Roundtable, let it be that you have a choice in this life, and GOD himself would NEVER violate your choice. I’m a witness, he will honor you and me regardless of our options, but he WILL NEVER OVERRIDE them (our choices).

Some might argue that have faith in GOD and believing the evidence of science is an apparent contradiction. However, it’s impossible to deny the truth in GOD and science.

Here’s a notable Bible Passage: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form – void. Darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the beginning of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good.

Regardless of your beliefs, that same POWER, in the beginning, exists to this day. Ask William Buie – He went from prison to Princeton riding on that power, and you can do the same. Have you got any questions? Would you please leave them in the comments section below?

Notable Accomplishments

  1. Clergy: Revrend William Buie
  2. Education: Princeton University Graduate
  3. Founder and Pastor: First Calvalry Baptist Church, Rock Hill, SC

Three Things You Should Do Now

What’s More?

When William Buie (He doesn’t need a title) is not out with an “S” on his chest saving the world, he spends his time ministering to others. Those called into ministry pay a price with no human value. Therefore, understand that the harvest is plenteous, BUT the laborers are few.

RECOVERY And Love – How They Trigger The Same?

RECOVERY And Love – How They Trigger The Same? These two terms seem to be as far from one another as possible. Those seeking recovery are looking for something that’s lost; Under normal circumstances, the notion of love is something we receive. That sounds like an oxymoron, correct?

Sometimes, though, the most difficult things that happen to us are not always something we understand. However, if you are a Chosen Visionary, you likely understand foolishness confounding the wise. In other words, what we believe, hear, and see are only partially true because of our limited perspective sees through a glass darkly. Someday, we will understand it better, or maybe not.

This week’s Chosen Visionary is one who has turned his life around significantly from riotous living including, but not limited to a baby out of wedlock, alcohol, drugs, late nights, partying and he’s even been incarcerated and shot! He gives ALL glory to God, and now is happy to share his story of grace, love and resilience in an honest and transparent way. and He’s at the Urban Academics Roundtable, as HOT-Seat Number Fifty-Eight (58), Thursday at 9:30 pm (EDT).

Meet Our Next Chosen Visionary in the HOT-Seat

This Chosen Visionary, forever known as HOT-Seat Fifty-Nine (59), is Pastor at New Antioch Church (Branford, CT), and he described it as a Safe Haven of Hope for ALL. No one will be turned away for services, and he, together with his wife, Lady Tiffany, is building a legacy as we speak.

The 700 seat sanctuary is peaceful and serene, with a window view into a nature scene. The community center (ALL Purpose) and training facility have the same beauty – It sits on 10 acres of land, allowing children to run and play without fear of cars or anything else. This summer, People Involved in Motivating Our Students Higher (PIMOSH) joins in partnership delivering 2021 Arts Education & Technology Institute (one of three locations). They expect up to 100 children and youth for this year’s inaugural run from July 12 – August 18, 2021.

Pastor Esau was born and raised in New Haven, CT. When he lost his father at a young age, he lost his way. The once famous high school athlete touring with the band and organized sports found himself outside of himself. He was as a broken vessel, and that weird place, without his Dad, was unbearable – He turned to alcohol and drugs, like so many others. The difference is he can honestly speak about those times and is willing to help others overcome them.

Another program proposed for the church is the Helen Harrison House of Hope for addicted women & children working hard getting parental rights restored while simultaneously working on hurtful issues contributing to the situation. Pastor Esau is an Elder for his region and will be ordained Sunday, July 11, 2021, at New Antioch, as the first major event since COVID-19. ALL are Welcome.

As a degreed Mental Health professional, he spends his days and some nights helping the less fortunate to gain a sense of self-worth with inspiring words and a calm spirit. Pastor Esau Greene, Jr. is the Chosen Visionary Number 59, and he’s in the HOT-Seat.

The Secret of Successful RETIRED US NAVAL OFFICER

Can you imagine being smart enough to use the US government to secure your future while getting paid to attend college or university studies? Many people are aware of the many benefits of military enlistment, but there’s much more associated with that track that’s not always advertised throughout media.

This week’s Chosen Visionary is one who learned early to pursue her dreams but to do so with as little out-of-pocket expense as possible. She was smart enough to take advantage of the Armed Forces of the United States at a young age. First, the National Guard and then, as a young black woman climbed the ranks, becoming a Retired Naval Officer. This route has proven successful, and yet she is young enough to start another career on top, and she’s at the Urban Academics Roundtable, as HOT-Seat Number Fifty-Eight (58), Thursday at 9:30 pm (EDT).

Just sit there, and find out what’s available from the comforts of home. But, while this is exciting, it’s pointing to the fact that COVID-19 has caused the world to re-think what is necessary and what it is not. So, for example, Walmart and other stores have curbside pick-up as an alternative to going inside the store. It’s genius, especially in the wake of a pandemic and the widespread of COVID-19.

At the very least, if you receive these benefits, you should know how it works. CLICK HERE to learn more about this new FREE Delivery Service and make your first purchase through Amazon’s Grocery Store portal.

Meet Our Next Chosen Visionary in the HOT-Seat

Recently featured in the fun Auto Insurance Commercial for Geico, the 90s classic Reel School HIP HOP  due TAG TEAM is back on TOP. Bursting onto the scene with their TOP OF THE POPS hit and automatically became one of those songs that stick in your head. “Whoomp! (There It Is).” The track quickly climbed to #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B charts in just 14 days. The song continues to appeal to admirers raised in the ‘90s and appeals to new enthusiasts of every era as it is recognized as a true symbol of the time. “Whoomp! (There It Is)” has been showcased in world-class nationwide ad campaigns as well as in Hollywood hit motion pictures and television series

Joseph Matthews was born and raised in Charleston South Carolina, and grew up in he middle of the transformation “After Freedom.” His memories bring him back to the plantation, but how is that possible when he’s not old enough to have experienced certain dates in history.

Some people don’t know that there are folks in Charleston who chose to stay on the plantation after freedom because they had no other options. They were not learned, and all they knew was where they found themselves.

Hear the story of a true historian who is not too far removed from the real truth about black folks’ passage to American soil – And those who remain.

Here are four things that set King Joseph Matthews apart from the others: (1) Love for Children; Love for the family; (3) Love for God; and (4) Love for Life.

Notable Accomplishments

  1. Service: Food Distribution to the Needy Weekly
  2. Service: Director – Westchester Parks & Recreation
  3. Service: Director – Westchester Bengals Booster Club
