Does Prostate Age Make A Difference?

Prostate cancer is considered rare in men younger than 40, and usually occurs more frequently amongst men starting at about age 50 – Again, the most common age is 60. It depends on a number of factors, but age is significant in the diagnosis and the treatment of the disease.

“Different cancers have different risk factors. Some risk factors, like smoking, can be changed. Others, like a person’s age or family history, can’t be changed.”

HOT-Seat 71 Kicks Off Cancer Revival 2021 - Get Up and Get Your Life Back Series, is Minister-Nurse Jean Turner, Author, Global Speaker and Retired Army and Iraqi Veteran - Thursdays at 9:30 pm (EDT)!

What About Balance and Cancer RIght Now?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but almost forgotten since the onset of the National Pandemic knowns as Caronavirus! It might be a good time to review what we can ALL do about Cancer right now? There’s one common thread amongst cancer survivors everywhere; Why Just Breasts?

October, before COID-19 hit, was the most popular brand of Cancer, but why? Do the others matter less or make less money? It appears that Breast Cancer, because it affects more women than men, and because it is rare for poor people to get the care they need, starting from the mammogram, it’s a good fit for commercialism – Like all the other wide-spread cash cows targeting women. We can do now about Cancer to honor everyone, regardless of which Cancer diagnosis.

Instead of focusing on Breast Cancer alone, this month, we are calling for A Cancer Revival – Get Up & Get Your Life Back Series! Kicking Off this Special Edition Cancer Series is Lady Jean Turner, the Urban Academics Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat Number Seventy-one (71). She is cancer (Lung) survivor and is here to share her story of triumph and perseverance. Breast Cancer, for any survivor or family member, is sensitive. However, I too have questions around what makes breast cancer “appear” as the number one cancer type? In October, the entire world turns pink, which has little to nothing to do with its patients or victims.

In this post, you will find cancer survivor songs, stories, videos, and more! BUY a T-Shirt HERE:

Cancer vs Overall Health?

Cancer is a disease located on the inside of our bodies – We cannot see it, like an illusion, unless, of course, you or someone you know has been diagnosed with it. Moreover, having lived through it yourself or caring for and with someone makes it impossible to get over. Years later – After the diagnosis, chemotherapy, and radiation, the side effects linger on, sometimes indefinitely. Lady Jean is a board-certified nurse and Wholistic DO NOT Miss This Cancer Revival – Every Thursday in October, right here at Urban Academics.

Some definitions call it evil or a plague, and I’m sure we can all look at some of our experiences and equate them to “evil” on some level. Cancer is known to eat up a person’s inside organs, which causes death. Have you ever been in a relationship where you knew it was beating the life out of you, but for some reason, you continued in it (the relationship)? The same cycle your body will go through on the inside; The only difference is Cancer, in its purest sense, can kill you (murder)! While the cancers of this world, those are living outside of us, are merely making us feel like dying. There is a difference.

We can do about Cancer now to help others who are experiencing the effects of it, share our own experiences about it with the world, and allow GOD to heal us from the inside out. No one wants to endure Cancer of any kind, but please know, ALL Cancer Matters!

The Cancer Revival – Get Up and Get Your Life Back Series targets folks with health-related Cancer and the spiritual cancers that plaque the world daily with wars and rumors of wars. We can win the fight against Cancer if we stick together! Lady Jean Turner will share her “Lung” Cancer Story related to the work she is doing now. Please join us. There are even Breast Cancer Songs – You Can Listen or Download NOW!

When Lady Jean is not running around with the “S” on her chest and Saving the World, she does more of the same in her spare time – Continues taking care of others. Sharing her gifts with the world is what brings the calmest to her. Nurse Jean’s cancer came after retiring from the US Military – Who knew? A Leadership Talk with Dr. Shon Neyland, Retired Airforce Colonel, Non-Profit CEO, and Sr. Pastor at Highland Christian Center (HCC), Portland, Oregon.

Where Will Leadership Be 6 Months From Now?

Leadership sometimes can be a relative term because many people see it differently. However, there are norms associated with the word – In 6 months, we may be looking for those we’ve nominated and voted for to provide answers they may not have.

Within eighteen months, the entire world turned inside out and upside down – Without warning! America is ripe for a miracle, and people everywhere need a break – Especially where leadership is concerned. Some should re-visit their leadership style, while others do not lead in the first place. While leadership in the United States runs scared, it’s difficult to project six months from now, but we must plan on some level if we are to survive; And a little kindness from those in power might help? It will depend on leaders we’ve voted for and put into office – Before, during, and after COVID-19.

A new dispensation means something has changed either in how and what we do differently. With that comes uncertainty, yet a fantastic opportunity for citizens to stand up and be leaders in their business, community, home, and school. Over the next six months, many would experience unprecedented growth – With many leaders under pressure, it may be a good time to differentiate between leadership styles and management – Leadership outreach and unity, unlocked during a worldwide pandemic.

Leadership opportunities and outreach to the youth of this generation who are ready to take their power, making commitments to themselves to lead if elected officials refuse to stand. It was the best. This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat NUmber 70 was born to lead, has the credentials to prove it, and is coming to The Urban Academics Roundtable to share his experience and wisdom learned through various leadership roles.

“Leadership! Failure to lead, Failure to organize, Failure to galvanize! This is what leaders do. We speak out, we organize, we influence; We make it happen. We don’t have that now, but I believe that there’s a new day coming in America, and we must stand together (Unity).”

Dr. Shon Neyland, Retired Colonel (US Airforce), Non-Profit CEO, and Sr. Pastor at Highland Christian Center (HCC), Portland, OR

So, where will leadership be in the next six months? Here at The Urban Academics Roundtable, we’re looking forward to hearing the leadership kindness of this week’s Chosen VIsionary in the HOT-Seat Number 70! He will unlock the unity hidden in your heart with knowledge, wisdom with valuable take-aways for leadership in organizational behaviors, leadership kindness, leadership styles in management, and leadership unity.

In addition, this Air Force Ranks Officer, during his interactive Q & A segment answers questions with kindness, providing real-time answers, and. It’s ALWAYS FREE, and you should register HERE.

Leadership defined …

(Leadership): The action of leading a group of people or an organization.” different styles of leadership;” The state or position of being a leader

Synonyms include, but are not limited to administration, ascendancy, authority, captaincy, command, control, direction, government, guidance, headship, governorship. governance, influence, initiative, jurisdiction, organization, superintendence, supervision, rule, power, management, mastery, domination, dominion, orchestration, premiership, sovereignty

Dr. Shon Neyland is The Chosen VIsionary in HOT-Seat 70

Dr. Shon Neyland is the Senior Pastor of Highland Christian Center (HCC), Portland, Oregon. Highland is a large, diverse, and growing church with over 600 members. Dr. Neyland is a Senior Executive Leader who honed his skills in the military over a 35-year career, retiring as a Colonel in the US Air Force. As the Senior Pastor of Highland, he leads a vast ministry comprised of 14 paid employees, over sixty-five (65) churches, an annual budget of $850K, and manages facilities valued over $7M.

Dr. Neyland is also the CEO of Highland Haven. This nonprofit organization provides education, community outreach, and improved health outcomes for youth and adults in underserved communities. As the CEO of Highland Haven, he leads a Board of Directors in managing a $600K budget annually, with 5 Program Directors and five Contractors.

Leadership and Colonel in the US Airforce are Synonymous

Dr. Neyland is a Retired Colonel in the US Airforce. It’s challenging to attain this military rank; Leaders only should apply.

Climbing the ranks starts from the captain, major, lieutenant colonel (middle field grade), and finally to colonel, the most senior field grade military officer rank directly below the rank of brigadier general. You do not get to this level without impeccable leadership skills, evident to higher-ranking US Military officers.

Becoming a Colonel is NOT an Easy Task

There are no shortcuts in the US Military – Everything meticulously calculated, disciplined and structured – Combined with developmental training, Dr. Neyland is a product of this environment. He rose in leadership as a high-ranking officer. Traditionally, colonels have a minimum of twenty-two years of service and at least three years of service as a lieutenant colonel before being promoted. Colonel – selects will also complete additional training to be enabled.

Dr. Neyland enlisted in the military in 1984 as a Logistic Management Specialist. He was
commissioned as an officer in 1991. Upon commissioning, Dr. Neyland served as a Nuclear Missile Launch Operator and in Space Operations. Dr. Neyland was licensed into the ministry in 1988, ordained in 1990 with the Church of God in Christ, and became an Air Force Chaplain in 1999. He has pastored several large congregations and at one time was the Senior Pastor of the largest worship service in the Air Force with over 5,000 in attendance weekly – With Signs & Wonders Following Him.

Before coming to Highland Christian Center, Dr. Neyland served 20 years as a Senior Pastor in a variety of capacities in the Air Force, including Command Chaplain for Pacific Air Forces, Command Chaplain for Air Force Materiel Command, Deputy Commandant for the Chaplain Corps College, and as Chaplain Corps Deputy Chief of Plans and Programs in the Pentagon.

Leadership Unity

Leadership is a journey and not a sprint – Dr. Neyland has proven this time and time again. Here in this video, hear his heart and passion for the country and its lack of leadership in county unity. My question is whether there is a lack of leadership or a shift in leadership happening as we speak? Take a listen and decide for yourself (10 minutes):

What’s More?

Dr. Shon Neyland is a true patriot who loves serving God and the people with leadership kindness. He honed his skills over the years and has taught and preached around the globe.

He is married (35-Years) to whom he refers, “The Love Of My Life), First Lady Madeline Neyland, the former Director of the Women’s Ministry at HCC. She has degrees/licenses in Cosmetology, and Medical Assisting, and she is a credential minister of the Gospel and spirit-filled songstress.

Lady Madeline has led a plethora of worship teams, choirs, given concerts as a soloist, co-led workshops, and launched a women’s ministry in Hawaii in 2001 that is still in effect today. Her ministry has brought hope and healing to thousands in her illustrious career. They are blessed and serving God together in life and ministry.

Everything You Need To Know About Halloween 2021 - It's BACK!

The Single Most Important Thing You Need To Know About HALLOWEEN 2021

There are several important things you need to know about Halloween 2021, and in this article, I’ll share most it not all – BUT it’s more important that you remember last year and the terrible loss of loved ones during the heat of an international Pandemic. The most important of them all is to be careful and stay safe!

If you are were sick last year when the COVID-19 Pandemic canceled Halloween, you are in good luck! Halloween 2021 is on a Poppin! If you’re like most folks who look forward to this day, you’ve already been buying lit pumpkins for your yard, spider-webs for the front yard, and candy for the kids. Check out the following and get your shopping done now!

The Single Most Important Thing You Need To Know About HALLOWEEN 2021 is we’ve got you covered for ALL of your favorite and original looks for this star-studded holiday, with you in the center!

What is Halloween Anyway?

Halloween is a celebration the night of October 31, the eve of the Western Christian’s All Saints’ Day, commonly celebrated by children and adults who dress in costume and go door-to-door asking for bags of candy. Children especially get a pass to take for themselves as much sugar and sweet stuff as they can, with no argument from parents nor teachers.

That’s the simple and United States truth about Halloween, but here are some other facts that will help you decipher the phenomenon:

Halloween’s Name and It’s Origin

The name we observe now, Halloween, has originally spelled Hallowe’en – A mesh between All Hallows Eve, the day before All Hallows Day. Today people are more familiar with and refer to it as All Saints Day, a Catholic holiday commemorating Christian saints and martyrs. You may not find any Halloween Decorations at the home of most Christians, but they are many times passing out candy to children.

Some folks (even historians) agree that the celebration came from a particular day celebrated by the Ancient Druids, educated or priestly class of the Celtic religion.

The Christian Position on Halloween

The word Halloween or Hallowe’en dates back to about 1745 and is of definitely Christian origin. Christianity and the church, in general, have changed drastically over time. As we’ve seen during the COVID-19 Pandemic, ever-changing evolved into Bed Side Baptist (Home) for many devout Christians, who see no reason to return to traditional church practices.

The word “Hallowe’en” means “Saints’ Evening.” It comes from a Scottish term for All Hallows’ Eve (the evening before All Hallows’ Day). There are several ways they spell this.

The Bible, as far as I know, does not mention Halloween. However, the Bible does say the following: “There must never be anyone among you who . . . consults ghosts or spirits, or calls up the dead.” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12) While some view Halloween as harmless fun, the Bible indicates that some of its practices are not.

Historically, its roots are pagan, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that if Christians “celebrate” Halloween, they are pagans. Christians are attempting to live a life void of pagan practices, something challenging to do in the US, where every other month is a significant Holiday costing money to participate. Dressing up with friends or handing out candy on Halloween is NOT a sin on October 31st – Unless, of course, it’s a sin on any other day.

Is Halloween a National Holiday?

The argument is as old as the event (no holiday) itself. For some, the thought around how many people celebrate and observe the October 31st date and how much money (over 73 billion dollars annually) s, it should be a National Holiday.

Well, let us think about it for a moment – If Halloween were a National Holiday, how would children all over the world wear their beautiful, gory, and outrageous costumes throughout school and work hallways? It may not be as much fun to parade around your neighborhood. You might miss someone’s potential to go viral if the right camera picked them up at the right time.

On the flip side of this argument, it’s true capitalists understand how much money consumers spend between Thanksgiving and Christmas than any other time of year. However, third to Mother’s & Valentine’s Day is no doubt Halloween. Some argue because of this; if folks were allowed the day off, they could spend even more money on the scariest day of the year. What are your thoughts? Please leave them in the comments section.

The Single Most Important Thing You Need To Know About HALLOWEEN 2021

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) released recommendations for Halloween 2021; Here’s a quote from their website:

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is encouraging people to stay away from most of the fun activities connected to Halloween. Its recommendation? No trick-or-treating, no costume masks, no indoor costume parties or haunted houses. The health agency says those are all high-risk activities.”

Center For Disease Control

It is important to know, but even more so to remember the truth about COVID-19 and its new Variant. The above quote, for those who celebrate Halloween by attending parties, but I know black, brown, and poor folks who will have a hard time complying with the recommendation. Sometimes I wonder why they bother with statements like this; If they don’t want young people to congregate in crowds, they should have closed the country.

It’s hard enough for most of us to follow new mandates. So, my recommendation is if you want to attend a party this year and cannot help but to attend, like high-schoolers and college students, please remember the skills you’ve learned over the last year and a half. Stay socially distanced (6-feet away) from folks knowingly or unbeknownst with a COVID-19 diagnosis. Another thing to be mindful of those who are A-Sympotamic, yet have been diagnosed with the deadly virus. Also, wearing a mask is a great idea regardless of whether you are vaccinated or not. Here are some festive for Halloween. Enjoy!

Three Things You Should Do

Mistakes Most People Make With Treatment

  • Exercise (Move Around):

It may sound counter-intuitive, but if your muscles are what’s wrong, you’ve got to find a way to use them (your muscles). For God’s sake, don’t just sit there and wait for them *your muscles) to lock. No! Get as much use out of them (your muscles) as much use as possible. Then do that same thing for everything else in your life that is a pain in the butt! Every little bit counts, but move it.

  • Nutrition (Eating Right):

Eating everything people say is healthy may not be healthy for your particular ailment. It would be best if you found out what your situation is taking away from a healthy report. For example, if your body is low in potassium, eating foods with more iron may not necessarily help your body in its current state of unrest (illness) to realign itself with a proper diet.

When it comes to swallowing – Diet also comes into play, one of the major concerns for folks living with this disease. You don’t want to put a strain on vocal cords, so you should be careful only to consume foods you know you can chew – No one else is going to do that for you unless you are a baby, and I doubt that. You’ve got to learn how to take care of yourself, right?

  • Spiritual Healing:

Your energy (frequency) by and with yourself is the most crucial part of healing. It would help if you believed it’s already inside of you, that your body is a healing machine quick to rescue, fixing anything inward that’s broken or hurting. You have every right to shake your head and start over, sometimes again and again. Get around people’s places and things that inspire the best of you instead of reminding you about past mistakes and problems. Those things have already happened, in the past where you can leave them.

“it was almost like meditation is taboo for black people. Meditation for me has been good – I want to show other people how. I looked up information on being certified for $3,000.00, but there was a scholarships for folks in less likely communities. O applied and 2-weeks late received a scholarship. Two Hundred Hour Course regarding our inner and outer self. I felt empowered and I’ve got to share with others.”

Clarke Boozer, Certified Mediation Speciaist (Portland, Oregon)

When King Boozer is not out saving the world with an “S” on his chest, he’s doing his best to stay active and healthy. He recommends you do the same regardless of your age.

Juliette Nelson, College Park MD, Author, Business Owner, Mental Health Professional, and Public Speaker - A Thought Leader

The Complete Process of A THOUGHT LEADER

The term Thought Leader has been a constant buzzword since the early 1990s and has stood the test of time – At least how the term itself goes. Folks from every walk of life have a thought or two, but that hardly equates to leadership. The purpose of this segment is to help all who might sit at the table to live life as their most authentic selves.

This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat Number 66 will help Urban Academics Roundtable members to think of ways to support vulnerable children and families who look to adoption and foster care as a resource. “Adoption and foster care is a traumatic experience. It’s a loss of a birth parent. Talking about Trauma is important because it has had an impact. What happens after the Trauma, and we have no idea what the parent was going through. Before classifying children and youth as “bad,” let’s learn to explore their individual stories.”
