Dr. Joan Cartwright (Boynton Beach, Florida) is our Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 84 and Anchor to Season Seven (7). She is an author, college professor, and retired blues and jazz musician passionate about women in the music industry. At the Urban Academics Roundtable Thursday at 9:15 pm

Who Else Wants To Enjoy WOMEN IN JAZZ Now

Men have dominated the music industry since the beginning. Few women have penetrated the 12.22-Billion Dollar industry (annual). Women in Jazz is an off-beat topic, but this week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 84 is a timely topic that should be front and center.

There are new and innovative ways for folks to consume their favorite genre of music. It comes direct from women in the music industry, and one is at the Urban Academics Roundtable. Questions on the table, like where’s the money?

So much so that she founded the organization known as Women in Jazz Global, Inc. Her mission is to promote women in music worldwide and get their fair share of the money associated with their music and songs.

HOT-Seat 84 is Dr. Joan Cartwright (Boynton Beach, Florida)

Joan Cartwright is an author, college professor, composer, podcast host, producer, and retired Blues and Jazz performer. She is also the Founder of Women in Jazz South Florida Inc, Women in Arts, Business catalogs, Musicman Magazines, and Musicwoman magazines.

Dr. Cartwright, A.K.A Diva JC has performed with her swinging brand of Jazz and blues all over the United States, France, Germany, Austria, Holland, England, Jamaica, Brazil, Mexico, Ghana, Gambia, South Africa, China, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain. Over that period, she worked with hundreds of male musicians and only six women. Diva JC wanted to bridge the gap in the male-dominated music industry.

So, in 2007,  She founded Women in Jazz South Florida, Inc. to promote women musicians in Jazz, locally, nationally, and globally. Audio, archives, articles, clinics, contacts, courses, events, film, history, interviews, lectures, newsletters, research, websites, workshops, video recording, concerts, performances, and recognition. Today there are members worldwide, and it is now called Women in Jazz Global Inc.

Three Things You Should Do

Mistakes Most People Make With Treatment

  • Exercise (Move Around):

It may sound counter-intuitive, but if your muscles are what’s wrong, you’ve got to find a way to use them (your muscles). For God’s sake, don’t just sit there and wait for them *your muscles) to lock. No! Get as much use out of them (your muscles) as much use as possible. Then do that same thing for everything else in your life that is a pain in the butt! Every little bit counts, but move it.

  • Nutrition (Eating Right):

Eating everything people say is healthy may not be healthy for your particular ailment. It would be best if you found out what your situation is taking away from a healthy report. For example, if your body is low in potassium, eating foods with more iron may not necessarily help your body in its current state of unrest (illness) to realign itself with a proper diet.

When it comes to swallowing – Diet also comes into play, one of the major concerns for folks living with this disease. You don’t want to put a strain on vocal cords, so you should be careful only to consume foods you know you can chew – No one else is going to do that for you unless you are a baby, and I doubt that. You’ve got to learn how to take care of yourself, right?

  • Spiritual Healing:

Your energy (frequency) by and with yourself is the most crucial part of healing. It would help if you believed it’s already inside of you, that your body is a healing machine quick to rescue, fixing anything inward that’s broken or hurting. You have every right to shake your head and start over, sometimes again and again. Get around people’s places and things that inspire the best of you instead of reminding you about past mistakes and problems. Those things have already happened, in the past where you can leave them.

“it was almost like meditation is taboo for black people. Meditation for me has been good – I want to show other people how. I looked up information on being certified for $3,000.00, but there was a scholarships for folks in less likely communities. O applied and 2-weeks late received a scholarship. Two Hundred Hour Course regarding our inner and outer self. I felt empowered and I’ve got to share with others.”

Juliette Nelson, College Park MD, Author, Business Owner, Mental Health Professional, and Public Speaker - A Thought Leader

The Complete Process of A THOUGHT LEADER

The term Thought Leader has been a constant buzzword since the early 1990s and has stood the test of time – At least how the term itself goes. Folks from every walk of life have a thought or two, but that hardly equates to leadership. The purpose of this segment is to help all who might sit at the table to live life as their most authentic selves.

This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat Number 66 will help Urban Academics Roundtable members to think of ways to support vulnerable children and families who look to adoption and foster care as a resource. “Adoption and foster care is a traumatic experience. It’s a loss of a birth parent. Talking about Trauma is important because it has had an impact. What happens after the Trauma, and we have no idea what the parent was going through. Before classifying children and youth as “bad,” let’s learn to explore their individual stories.”

Super Easy Ways To Learn Everything About ADOPTION

Adoption can be a very tricky subject, especially for black, brown, and low to moderate-income families. It could be that the mindset of the individuals mentioned here wonder how extra mouths in a house when there are limited means is feasible. Another idea is the embarrassment associated with what family is supposed to be and when abandonment enters the room.

This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 65 will help Urban Academics Roundtable members to think of ways to support vulnerable children and families who look to adoption and foster care as a resource.

Death, LIFE INSURANCE, And Taxes

Death, LIFE INSURANCE, And Taxes are each something all of us over the age of 21 give thought to, it’s not as important to the next generation. Youth are more apt to take their chances on LIVING LONG and hopefully using life insurance, i.e. inheritance can help to shield the future. This is probably the first time for black brown and low-income earning families.

This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 64 will help Urban Academics Roundtable members to think of three extremely important things around facts. Each of us will pass away (die) at some point, and when that time comes it’s too late to get our business and final expenses in order. The science behind A Perfect PRISON TO PRINCETON MIRACLE

Young thugs are everywhere! Look around wherever you are and agree we black, brown, and poor folks have a long way to go. Seriously, we’ve fought for everything and each other. This generation of pant-sagging migrants, in my opinion, don’t have a clue what it is/was to be a “G.” Television shows don’t come close to the reality facing young people two and three generations ago. However, one thing will never change – The power of GOD and his ability to move each one into their purpose.

This thought is not about racism, but rather about whether life was experienced as straight and narrow (headed to heaven), or the extreme opposite, a sinful wretch is undone. You went to church and served GOD (doing good), or wholeheartedly serving evil 365-7 days weekly would put my money on a ’70-’80s Daddy’s Girl! We’ve but because of this week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 63.

Who is Chosen VIsionary in HOT-Seat 63

Rev. William H Buie quotes the great Langston Hughes, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair!” Growing up in the mean streets of Brooklyn, New York, in the Bedford Stuyvesant community provided a level of education not offered within the American educational system. The street life grabbed his attention at an early age, and he quickly fell for worldly happiness. Seeing the bling belonging to men of every nationality with the finer things of life, I began my pursuit of those things as an escape from poverty.

He found himself engaged in seeking attention from sources outside of what we consider the nuclear family. His first encounter with the underground world began with a simple engagement in smoking marijuana/weed at ten years old, which started the downward spiral. Life started as a love affair, only to end up like gang rape. Not realizing the end could only lead to jails, institutions, possibly death.

About Science

Science is about facts with proven evidence over time. With that said, I’ve never seen the word science mentioned in the bible; Because it was not discovered yet (the term)? However, what is clear is the countless scriptures around knowledge and wisdom – Mostly building on top of the other. William Buie, a chosen vessel used by GOD, can use – He’s been through the mire, much, and Mudd yet somehow came out victorious and unscathed.

If you take anything away from this segment (and post) at the Urban Academics Roundtable, let it be that you have a choice in this life, and GOD himself would NEVER violate your choice. I’m a witness, he will honor you and me regardless of our options, but he WILL NEVER OVERRIDE them (our choices).

Some might argue that have faith in GOD and believing the evidence of science is an apparent contradiction. However, it’s impossible to deny the truth in GOD and science.

Here’s a notable Bible Passage: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form – void. Darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the beginning of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good.

Regardless of your beliefs, that same POWER, in the beginning, exists to this day. Ask William Buie – He went from prison to Princeton riding on that power, and you can do the same. Have you got any questions? Would you please leave them in the comments section below?

Three Things You Should Do Now

What’s More?

When William Buie (He doesn’t need a title) is not out with an “S” on his chest saving the world, he spends his time ministering to others. Those called into ministry pay a price with no human value. Therefore, understand that the harvest is plenteous, BUT the laborers are few.

He says it’s science, but the jury is still out on that one.

Here, we are celebrating Twenty-Five Men Who Speak: It’s Black King Joy during this special occasion HOT-Segment – You don’t want to miss this. Every Thursday at 9:30 pm (EDT); A FREE invitation for you to join us, but you should Register Here.
