The Luther and Mary Ida Vandross Scholarship ($6,000) DUE June 12, 2020

The Luther and Mary Ida Vandross Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Luther Vandross and his devoted mother Mary Ida. This scholarship is intended for students already attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Apply Now!

This fund is NOT intended for High School Graduates, nor is it for incoming Freshmen. Apply NOW!

Applicants must be third, fourth, or fifth-year college (NOT for Incoming Freshmen) students leading to an undergraduate degree; be enrolled at an HBCU; demonstrate financial need, and have a 2.5 GPA.

You must be a resident of Pennsylvania, Delaware, or Southern New Jersey.

Scholarships of 6,000 each, are awarded by the foundation on behalf of the late R&B singer, Luther Vandross and his mother Ida.

Americanism Educational Leaders, which supports this scholarship, strives to provide students with opportunities to discover, understand, and appreciate some aspect of the American experience. This year’s essay contest prompt is “We are a nation rich in diversity of all types. Please discuss how this diversity contributes to American life.”

The applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is a current undergraduate student in an accredited four-year U.S. college or university. The APWU E.C. Hallbeck Memorial Scholarship awards 10 recipients $2,000 annually for four years to use toward an undergraduate program. Description:  The BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship is an annual competition open to rising jazz stars enrolled at colleges and universities nationwide. The award pays tribute to the artistic excellence of jazz pioneers while providing crucial support for emerging performers.

NEA Jazz Master judges convene a panel and votes on one winner based on the following:

  1. Evidence of Talent
  2. Potential as a Jazz Performer & Composer
  3. Availability to Attend BMI’s Annual Celebration of NEA Jazz Masters Fellows

Well-known Jazz Musicians like Ron Carter, Jack Dejohnette, Jimmy Heath, and Ahmad Jamal.

Apply for this scholarship, only if you are a full-time or part-time student attending an accredited college or university in the U.S. If you are currently in high school, this is NOT the application for you – NOT eligible.
