Juliette Nelson, College Park MD, Author, Business Owner, Mental Health Professional, and Public Speaker - A Thought Leader

The Complete Process of A THOUGHT LEADER

The term Thought Leader has been a constant buzzword since the early 1990s and has stood the test of time – At least how the term itself goes. Folks from every walk of life have a thought or two, but that hardly equates to leadership. The purpose of this segment is to help all who might sit at the table to live life as their most authentic selves.

This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat Number 66 will help Urban Academics Roundtable members to think of ways to support vulnerable children and families who look to adoption and foster care as a resource. “Adoption and foster care is a traumatic experience. It’s a loss of a birth parent. Talking about Trauma is important because it has had an impact. What happens after the Trauma, and we have no idea what the parent was going through. Before classifying children and youth as “bad,” let’s learn to explore their individual stories.”

Super Easy Ways To Learn Everything About ADOPTION

Adoption can be a very tricky subject, especially for black, brown, and low to moderate-income families. It could be that the mindset of the individuals mentioned here wonder how extra mouths in a house when there are limited means is feasible. Another idea is the embarrassment associated with what family is supposed to be and when abandonment enters the room.

This week’s Chosen Visionary in HOT-Seat 65 will help Urban Academics Roundtable members to think of ways to support vulnerable children and families who look to adoption and foster care as a resource.

Three Things You Should Do

What’s More?

When Lady Joi is not cape-wearing with an “S” on her chest making brave attempts at saving the world, she goes into “parent” mode. It seems taking care of everyone else is a permanent part of her DNA. Her goal is to try and pay more attention to herself both mentally and physically. As a woman of faith, she believes in overcoming anything through honesty and doing the work. Owning up to things that need change is the first step. Taking life seriously and speaking her truth during counseling sessions is her go-to, and she recommends it (counseling) to others.
