Who is Chosen VIsionary in HOT-Seat 62
Mirma Johnson-Majors, Ph.D., is an Accomplished MUSEUM DIRECTOR AND EDUCATOR with a strong, extensive, more than 10-year leadership record of success directing African American History and Civil Rights museums and educational programs, with a strong emphasis on Community and Constituent services, including previous employment at the Smithsonian Institution. Taught African-American History at the undergraduate and graduate college level.
She’s currently serving students as an Adjunct Professor at Coppin State University (Baltimore MD) and Stevenson University (Owens Mill. MD), additionally has taught graduate-level Museum Studies, American History of Museums as an Adjunct Professor at both Morgan State University (Baltimore, MD) and Albany State University (Albany GA).
A few tips for black and brown students majoring in Museum History:
- Focus on the goal of mastering all pertinent information necessary to stay relevant
- Make sure you take continuing education classes to be in the “current” know
- Network as much as possible within the Museum History community on and off-line, and be sure to follow up with all your new contacts to remind them of what you propose to do.
