Don’t Be Fooled By Fear – Use Dedication and Focus Like Dinah, she’s in the HOT-Seat

Sometimes the one thing (fear) we think has absolute right holding us back becomes the very reason to buckle up getting more accomplished than you ever thought possible. Life sometimes can be difficult, presenting obstacles and road-blocks to success. These times may leave us feeling depressed, sad, seemingly unable to move forward; however, if you could imagine yourself making a clear decision to move forward, regardless of risk or sacrifice. You could gain momentum and never look back – Many others have done it. Why not you? This wee’s chosen visionary has proven to her children, community, family, and self how fear can inside out bouncing on its ugly head.

Here’s the story of a pillar in the black, brown, poor, and other folks living in the inner-city urban community who tricked fear, climbed out of a poverty-stricken environment, and continues to rise to the height of a promising career serving the same community she was once a part. Lots of people know the glory, but few know the real story. Read on, and be inspired.

This Week’s Chosen Visionary

Born Dinah Orissa Milton in Folkston, Georgia, one of 13 children. She moved to New Haven, Connecticut, with her mother and siblings in 1977. Dinah attended New Haven Public Schools, graduating from Richard C. Lee High School in 1985. She was elected senior class president, graduated number seven in her class, and received numerous college scholarships. These accomplishments were significant in Dinah’s life because, while a sophomore in high school, at the tender age of 16, she gave birth to her daughter, Tashana. Some predicted Dinah would not finish high school, would not go to college, and that she and
her daughter would end up as welfare statistics.

Young but never ignorant of the power and purpose of a dream, Dinah pushed forward against the odds, striving to do her part to be a good mother, get off welfare and build a successful life for herself and Tashana. It was not easy for either of them, but they endured by the prayers and support of family, the Church, and others who gave words of encouragement and financial assistance.

Elder Dinah Kinney, Esquire and Chief Deputy Clerk of Court,United States District Court of Connecticut in the HOT-Seat on Turning Fear Inside Out, Thursdays, 9:30 PM (EST), DIAL-In: 605.472.5272 | Pin#: 836692

Elder, Dinah Kinney, Esquire

Lady Dinah is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies. While attending Southern, she raised Tashana and worked full time, taking evening and weekend courses. With God’s help, Dinah was allowed to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer. She was accepted into the part-time evening division program at the University of Connecticut School of Law, graduating in 2000. While attending law school, she juggled the responsibility of being a single parent, working full time, and serving as a Sunday School Teacher and youth leader in her Church, Mount Hope Temple United Holy Church of America (New Haven).

Longing to be a committed and genuine woman of God, at the age of 25, Dinah accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and then married the man of her dreams, Robert W. Kinney, Sr. In 2003, she answered the call into the ministry. Today, she serves as First Lady and an Associate Pastor of her Church.

In addition, The United States District Court currently employs her for the District of Connecticut as the Chief Deputy Clerk of Court. She has held numerous other distinguished positions, including Law Clerk to the Judges of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Newport News, Virginia; Judicial Assistant to Magistrate Judge Donna F. Martinez; Administrative Services Manager of the 1995 Special Olympics World Games Organizing Committee; Assistant to the Chief of Staff to Governor Lowell P. Weicker, Jr.; and Executive Assistant to the United States Attorney of the District of Connecticut.

What’s More?

Dinah finds her greatest joy as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Together she and Robert has three children, four grandchildren, and they reside together in Hamden, CT. Elder Dinah has extraordinary compassion for young women, especially those considered at risk, and she thinks it a privilege to share her story with them. Above everything, Dinah considers it a privilege to proclaim the Good News that Jesus Saves! She claims this excellent message through community service, preaching, teaching, and the gift of playwriting.

Super Easy Ways To Learn Everything About Money – Malcolm O. Ashley (Yale) Economist in the HOT-Seat

How does one become a consultant to Republics in other countries? What is an economist or systems engineering? How about financial cooperative opportunities? What? The What? What an how? So many questions, so little time. This week at Urban Academics, we are hosting a Reservation for the HOT-Seat as usual, but I’m sure we’ve never had this kind of conversation to date? This reservation is for someone who understands money! How it moves, operates, and works in the real world.

Grab a Seat: DIAL: 605.472.5272, Pin#: 836692

This topic is timely due to covid wiping out the bank on almost everyone. Most of us, primarily black, brown, and poor folks, only know two things: (1) Work and have money in your pockets; and (2) Buy what you want with what’s left after your bills – In that order. I wouldn’t miss this LIVE event if I were you – Sometimes it gets so HOT we can’t stop.

This week, in the HOT-Seat, we are coming to a beginner’s class on money, presented from the HOT-Seat by a KING worthy of his crown, so pull up a seat and bring a BIG BIB to catch your crumbs. This one’s going to be good.

Three (3) Books You Should Read

Books are bubbles of niche-targeted content containing information and stories you find inside. Reading books can take you across the world, back in an hour, and in the meantime, experience unheard of hospitality and exquisite cuisine. No matter how they come to fruition (church outing, group-home, school field trip, etc.), these types of experiences have the power sometimes to change the trajectory of what you thought was forever if you allow it?

Words are those strings that turn what would be an ordinary sentence into something spectacular. When crafted just right, content (words) can kick-start your whole life all over again regardless of how you feel or what’s going on. You will begin to go on and on again, finding daily encouragement to keep it moving. If you are a writer, there is a place for you in heaven because there would be none without the ready writing holding the pen/pencil in today’s marketplace. Either way, the brain needs exercise too. Enjoy!

What You Didn’t Realize About Limb Differences is Powerful – But Extremely Simple.

The loss of anything can be quite painful, and depending on how meaningful the absence of the loss is, it will determine how you can cope or not so much. Many therapeutic-related books and programs have been written around topics associated with the idea of death, dying. And the overall concept of loss and how to recover from it. These books and manuscripts touch on the basics around different kinds of losses and how you should determine to get past it (loss) and move on. But what about a limb? Limbs are a little bit different from losing a car in an accident or a job you never liked in the first place. Even the strongest of a parent is fearful of certain words associated with their children.

We all have differences, some seen while others are not as obvious. But limb differences are noticeable, almost like skin color, except you can hide the fact of missing limbs with prosthetics and new technology so advanced that no one would ever know that you or a family member is an amputee. Today’s medical advances are fantastic and mind-blowing at the same time. The hard part is accepting the diagnosis and setting your heart and mind for the journey ahead. The specific and easy part is continuing to shine your loving light on your beautiful child, assuring him or her that you will be there every step of the way, as you are around for this very purpose.

Read “HOT-Seat” Press Release On Paige Thomas-Minor

Paisley, a 3-year-old little girl, was born with a rare medical condition only found in 1 and 1 million births. This condition affected her lower limbs, and she is clinically diagnosed with the most severe form of Tibial Hemimelia. Paisley’s lower legs and feet were amputated in 2019 to maximize her quality of life and ability to run, jump, and play. Some folks opt for only partial amputations, and in some cases, that may make more sense as you discuss options with your primary care doctor or chosen specialist. If you’ve got questions, get on the call, getting them addressed now. You are welcome here, and the table is all set.

Paisley and her medical condition has had and continues to have a significant impact on Paige’s outlook on life and work-life-home balance. It (a rare illness) has also opened new doors for presentations and speaking opportunities for the veteran marine corps officer. Paige is now an advocate for limb differences awareness and promotes events, fundraisers, and education through her family’s journey as an amputee family.

Special Ed Laws Should Offer More Media Opps – Andre Evans, B.E.A.N. T.V. On How To Overcome Learning Disabilities

The theory behind entertainment and media in this country was built upon capitalist propaganda, which is using mass media to exploit and promote capitalism through mass media (radio and TV) and also through education, where they can control what is taught to the majority of children (at home and school). In other words, a small group of people was able to control the entire narrative – A monopoly, but not anymore.

Read Andre Davis’ Press Release!

Back in the day, it was impossible for you and me to get a National Network TV slot on TV because the media buys were out of our league or inaccessible. Then comes along Amazon and YouTube leveling the playing field allowing anyone to press a few buttons and directly approach their target customer.

This week’s conversation is about IDEA special education, and how media can and must play a major role in re-shaping education. This week’s chosen visionary has experienced first hand what it was like to be labeled and identified as dumb or unlearned. Instead of wasting away, he “chose” the direction of multi-media through a community program where he learned all the skills need for FREE!

Because he overcame academic failure as a young person, the determined young adult returned to school and earned an MBA from Emerson College. Federal laws and the idea special education programs must include folks at the table who can speak the truth both about needs and what’s non-negotiatble. If the same people continue sitting around the tables that matter, what will a new outcome look like?

Reunion at The Urban Academics Roundtable, Season II: White, Thomas, McFadden, ReddickPS, Gay, ReddickPM, Fagan, Moore, DavisA, Rutherford, and DavisM Inter-State Talk for Black, Brown, Poor, and Others Living The Inner-City Urban Experience

The Roundtable Season II is the completion of 24 consecutive Segments at the Urban Academics Roundtable, and without 12 (season I) + 12 (season II) we would not be able to celebrate the milestones associated with this wonderful content creation platform and each person in the HOT-Seat and around the table.

“We have been fed once again, and it was Ummm Ummm good. Now, go and share some of what you got from this table with others. Until next time”

Kaye Harvey, President & CEO, Alexis Hill Montesorri, Inc., and Roundtable Moderator

Why Reunion II is Crucial

What you may not have realized is Urban Academics is a content creation platform that will re-purpose every single roundtable discussion so that our people can get information the way they want it – Not the way we think.

The easiest way to create new fresh content – Different from the old, outdated, or re-constructed curations on the internet today. Our people not only get the news lately but sometimes it’s the wrong information from sources we have learned to appreciate instead of tolerating.

Crucial Reasons 1-7

  1. Urban Academics growing extremely fast (actual hits)
  2. Urban Academics Online has Authority
  3. Urban Academics Online is Indexed
  4. Urban Academics has consistently produced weekly content
  5. Urban Academics has strong backlinks
  6. Urban Academics subscribes to a collaborative philosophy
  7. Urban Academics Understands the POWER of Twelve

The easiest way to do it was the old-fashioned way of simply talking about everything – The good, bad, ugly, and downright nasty! That’s how you get it done with and out in the open, with others present, the family (village). During the last 24-weeks, you have played a major role in family conflict and discussions.

What’s really cool is the idea that has actually re-created the way content is created, but also how google LOVEs what we are doing here at Urban Academics – We are growing very fast as a platform, which means a few things:

In the HOT-Seat for Season II

Episode 1, Segment #13: Calton White (Waterbury, CT)

Episode 2, Segment #14: Minister Dionne Thomas (Sacramento, CA)

Episode 3, Segment #15: Sheriff Garry McFadden (Charlotte, NC)

Episode 5, Segment #17: Anthony Gay (Waterbury, CT)

Episode 6, Segment #18: Pierre M Reddick (Wshington, DC)

Episode 7, Segment #19: Minister Jocelyn Fagan (Tampa, FL)

Episode 8, Segment #20: Dr. Iline Tracey (New Haven, CT)

Episode 9, Segment #21: Dr. Sabrina Moore (Columbia, SC)

Episode 10, Segment #22: Andre Davis (DC, New Haven, and NYC)

Urban Academics Update (24-Weeks) + Two Reunion(s)

Urban Academics Online, the platform has been around for some time, but after expanding into the intellectual talk space it became obvious what to do with newly generated content. It was not, however, so easy to figure out how. We are rolling out a BETA on Urban Academics Membership Portal. Find out more about the once in a lifetime opportunity to partner with The Roundtable – For authors, entrepreneurs, and enterprise business and non-profits.

I’m techy by nature, I can read code and know old school HTML (the reason I can read code). But when it comes to marketing, someone else is in control and we must know what we are doing or we’re gonna get burned.

Because we are each in the spirit of collaboration, any content created here comes with unmeasurable power to change lives (around the world). Our hope is that world-wide content creators, including you, will lend their voice to these conversations. It’s no doubt a work in progress, but it’s time for next-level existence.

We now know for a fact how lucrative and valuable (worth lots of money) RAW, REAL, and RELEVANT content for black, brown, poor, and others living the inner-city urban experience can be. In no time flat, we’ve come up with a power-house plan for authors, entrepreneurs, and enterprising folks in business and innovation. Introducing Urban Academics Membership Portal.
